Here’s a 19-minute video of a van trip I took from Jerusalem, past Bethlehem, and into Hebron in the West Bank during 2008. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the obstacles that many Palestinians face in their day-to-day lives under Israeli occupation.
A drive through the occupied territories from JD Lasica on Vimeo.
This is not an attack on Israeli policy, merely a journalistic slice of life as we ride alongside Mikhael Manekin, co-founder of Breaking the Silence, a human rights group made up of former Israeli soldiers who participated in the occupation of Hebron. It’s one of the more important videos I’ve done, and I published it on the Huffington Post as well.
Here’s the two-part series I wrote up on Socialmedia.biz:
- Documentary short: A drive through the occupied West Bank
- Occupation 101: Hebron (an exclusive report)
